Wishes wasted

by StandStill   Feb 5, 2008

I walked upon a beach one day
the waves were lapping near
i found a geanie in a bottle
rub it and he did appear

i thought that i could wish for things i held close in my heart
but these wishes, yes my dear,
they're tearing us apart

now i walk a silent road
with all the lovers dead
i want to scream, i need to shout
i need to clear my head

my heart it pulses, beats for you
wishing you were near
for you would listen to my cries
you would clear the fear

i wish to look into your eyes
and hold your hand in mine
i wish that we could go back in time
when you were just my valentine

alas three wishes i did waste
on things that don't redeem
for now all i wish for is you
this is how it will seem

i cast you away
after i promised forever and a day

I really like the basic concept.
    I get how you feel.
It's like all the excitement, wonder, and butterflies have all disappeared...
