A Late Realization

I've written a hundred poems
I've written a hundred songs
I've written a hundred stories
Tho none of them too long

The past few things I've written
Have been about one thing
Tho, in my life, there are changes
You're still my everything

I thought that I could let go
I thought I could forget
I thought that I'd get over you
With myself, I made this bet

I told myself this theory:
That you didn't really care
And since you didn't, neither did I
So you can imagine how I'm scared

To think I'll love you always
To know I can't let go
To realize my best friend was right again
But that's not new for her to know

We're meant to be together
I've known it from the start
So tell me why I keep making mistakes
Why I keep breaking your heart
