    ****Now closed. Winners at the bottom****

    This is my second contest.. First one is still running. [First Contest - Song Titles]. This one is really for fun :)

    Many people have heard of a Haiku but may not know what it is.

    A Haiku is simple. It has three lines.

    First line - 5 syllables
    Second line - 7 syllables
    Third line - 5 syllables

    Example:
    Wo/bb/ly wo/men
    Wad/dl/ing down the high street
    Nat/ter/ing a/way

    This is really an apreciation contest :) Not many people write them.. But I love them.

    This contest is simple.. It has 2 rules:

    1) Up to five Haikus for each person. I will judge them all together not separately. So if someone writes 5.. They will be judged as one. Same if someone just writes one.. That will also be judged as one.
    2) The usual theme for Haiku is 'Nature'. By all means you can stick to that.. But in this contest you can write about any thing. :) It has another name.. But at this particualar moment.. I can't think of it.

    I will close this when I have 20 people.. Not poems.. People entered. I will wait until the 31st March. :) First come first serve :)

    Rewards:
    1st - 6 comments/ ratings
    2nd - 4 comments/ ratings
    3rd - 2 comments/ratings

    All other entrants will recieve a comment/rating on one poem :)

    Just enjoy and have fun.. Thats what its all about.

    By the "Write about anything you like." i am assuming that they do not have to follow a nature theme like Haiku's are defined as doing?

    -And do they have to be new?

  • xoOrdinaryGirlox

    I know they follow the nature theme.. And you can write along that. But for this contest it can be on any theme :)

    And no they don't have to be new.

    Watch and make a wish.

    Sparkles dazzle the mind,
    floating through lambent crystals
    builds colorful nights.

    Ruby sensations
    spill alluring gold flavor
    warming pearly heart.

    Soul plunged in laughter
    reflects majestic moments,
    singing laced tunes.

    Time (Haiku)

    Waves splash upon the
    eternal rocks, forever
    carving into time.

    Seasons (Quadrople Haiku)

    Summer's gone as fast
    as Winter's fall, we dream of
    Spring, now Autumn calls.

    The tides change but the seasons
    stay the same, and now
    they're gone as fast as they came.

    So we're left with this
    season, destiny calls and
    their is no reason.

    For the weather will change our
    hearts, then the seasons
    will come and tear it apart.

    i was bored and figured it cant hurt.

    Sound of the Rain

    Sounds of falling rain
    Crashing onto the rooftops
    Create a loud night

    Sights of falling drops
    Splashing onto the windshields
    Create a wet night

    Feelings of water
    Running down her little hands
    Mesmerize the child

    Arrival

    The cold wind whispers
    My heart shivers, winter comes
    Snow falling as tears

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Fallen Giant
    The mighty oak tree
    Roots deep and wide drinking earth
    Tasting destruction
    January On The Lake (Double Haiku)
    The lake's churning foam
    Crashes on icicle rocks
    Winter's chilly home
    January sky
    Sinks in the icy water
    A hungry gull flies
    Only A Northern Song (Double haiku)
    Wind blown bent tree sways
    Only a northern song plays
    Canada gale blows
    Serene white caps prance
    Lake Erie's slow summer dance
    Warm sand polished toes
    Morning Song ( Double Haiku)
    Misty languid morn
    Moist dew kisses hollyhocks
    Hummingbird's delight
    Sun drenched hills glow
    Bluegrass echoes thrill tall pines
    Lone mockingbird cries
    Reminds Me of You
    by Mezmeryz
    I see a bright light
    Shining in the sky at night
    Reminds me of you
    You were a fairy
    Pleasure was priority
    Your magic so true
    You were like a star
    Known by all near and far
    Were loved through and through
    You were an angel
    Kept all away from trouble
    Your blessings so true
    Although you're gone
    Still your memories remain
    You are here to stay
    When- I see a bright light
    Shining in the sky at night
    It- Reminds me of you
    My try at a haiku-stanza based long poem =]
    This is the only one I've done recently. Originally titled "Haiku Suicide", before I knew the difference. It's a little strange for me, but what the heck:
    Senryu Suicide
    Sorry I woke you,
    I was feeling a bit sad,
    But not anymore.
    Beautiful choice in contest.
    Porcelain Moon [Haiku]
    Upon lost nights sky,
    A porcelain moon shatters,
    Darkness lost its glow.
    Forever Changing Skies [Haiku]
    Sunset across skies,
    Darkness unravels bright glow,
    Dawn brings new beauty.
    Flames Of The Butterfly's [Haiku]
    Silver butterfly's,
    Entwined with electric fence,
    Burn within fierce flames.
    Rains Of Sorrow [Haiku]
    Clear droplets of rain
    Rest upon concrete tombstones,
    Skies mourn in sorrow.
