Weekly Contest Judges

It requires reading all of the nominated poems throughout the week. On Sunday, you send your votes and comments to Britt so she can post the results on Monday when the winners are revealed.

I wouldn't mind, I read them all anyway!

I thought people were supposed to nominate names that they consider fit to be judges and then those nominated would say whether they accept or decline just to make sure that those who will be judges are somehow qualified for the position?

I'd nominate a few at the moment off my head, then return to add more.

That's how we've done it recently, but I don't think it's a hard-and-fast rule. This way maybe we can get some interested people who read a lot but aren't as social.

As you like. I just fear we'll be getting unqualified judges. people will nominate those who comment a lot or comment a little but known for their fairness and/or good comments not those who are social, I guess. but as I said, it's up to you anyway.

I would nominate ABC. I do not see him on this list anywhere. I also think that Mel would be good. And Bob Shank just for spice.

ABC is Auzy, Sher. I've listed him.

Mel is a wonderful pick too, she and Melissa.

Nominations are good, too. Either way, I don't think we'll end up with anyone who is unqualified... this is just gathering possibilities!

I'd do it.

Who is unqualified? To have a fair and unbiased representation of the best of PnQ, all PnQ members should have an equal opportunity to judge. What better people to represent us than a random sample of active members? It rules out a popularity contest.

Nominating people is great too. Throw your name out there or another's name. Whatever you want :) Have fun!

Remember judges are not permanent but are on rotation.

Of course, we do probably want people who have shown that they can turn out a good comment.... but besides that, anyone's name can go into the pool!

I would like to be a judge again. It was always a pleasure to devote my Sunday afternoon to doing this:)

All kidding aside though. These people I know would make good judges and I would like to try it myself. :]

Fat Giraffe, how very kind of you to offer. You're right there with Joe, I know he was also willing. We've handed the job to Britt for now since she handled it beautifully in the past, but she may get sick of the job someday :) Thanks.

I would definitely be pleased if ABC and Danny were picked;

both have wide (wild :P) knowledge, personally Auzy helped me see things in my poems from a new perspective, he fits 100 %.

Just a head's up, we will be swapping out old judges for new ones soon! Need to chat with the other mods before I write more.

Hellon, who chooses who? The Judges? If that's your question, then ultimately, the final decision is the Mods.

The mods based on who is active and who wants to be a judge/who has been nominated to be a judge. There are rotations so eventually everyone who wants to be one will probably get a chance.

Alright, looks like the judges are on 6 month rotations and there is one more month left for our current judges before new ones are swapped in!
Beginning September, who would like to be a judge? Nominations would be great! If you see your name nominated, please state in this thread whether you would accept the position or not.

The way we're going about this may not be the best way, so if anyone has suggestions, please share.

And I would like to give a shout out to our current judges without naming names... you guys are A W E S O M E !

Hmmm is there any requirement, Jane? I mean, does it depend on age or something? :/ or anyone can be a judge??

Psst, I have a suggestion.. maybe creating a new thread for the new judges, so it's neater and people can see things at the top.. makes it easier.
