What is wrong with PnQ?

We have got to fix it!

I am facing lots of problems, everytime I add a member to my favorite, they get deleted after a day or two with the rest of my faves, this started even before Janis popped up. Whenever I want to submit a poem some weird 'rn's show up too. I don't know what they are. =/

My club threads have been deleted, as well, some really important threads, contest threads in the page 4 or so...I have had poems there and I'm really sad to see them go...I know my fault that I didn't save them, didn't expect them to just vanish.

Another thing, lotttttssssss offf spammers! again!

what should we do??? any help can we do?
mods just tell us what must we do and we will...because this really ain't bearable! :(

Should someone talk to Janis?

We would love to talk to Janis. If only he could be found... Alas, he is a phantom.

Here's what you/we can do:
Complain on spammers like usual.
Compile a list of what's gone wrong since Janis made his appearance.
Save poems (just in case!).
Let the mods know if anyone is having difficulty creating a PnQ account. We might have to activate them manually.

Unfortunately all the things posted - poems, threads, posts - were lost. Nothing was saved during the server switch, so do not expect anything to be recovered that was lost.

If you can remember the title of a poem you are fond of, type it in "poem search" and it may be recovered

I know this suggestion is a little late but...when this happened a few years ago I was told that the only way poems were saved was if they had been featured and...having a look through some members accounts this still seems to be the case so...if anyone still has access to a poem on their account that they haven't featured then feature it now in case of more hickups!

This sounds like a thread in the club disappeared and it had the poems on it.

It really sucks this happened, I'm sorry so many have lost important threads and valuable poems :(

I never feature my poems. :(
I have this problem as well, whenever I feature a poem, it gets demoted after 1 day, and this started even before Janis came on, too. I don't think it is because of the server??

When I hit "more" under certain peoples poems- they wont show up...but if you guys feature all your poems then we will be able to see them too.

I guess we need Janis now more than anytime before!! haha!!

Someone named 'Alexis' applied to my club yesterday, I declined, their poems still appear on the page when you click "Poetry club poems"

Arghhhh, are they hacking or what???

If they were hacking it wouldn't show their poems.. Is she in your member list?

Your total club members changed from 15 to 16, but that name is not listed. Somehow the site must think you accepted it.

EDIT: I noticed that The Poet is listed as a member today and wasn't yesterday so maybe that is why the number changed.

Britt, she ain't on my members list, I am sure I declined her, Sylvia, my boyfriend applied again today, that is why the number changed.

I am really lost. She PMed me saying she would like to know me better, she doesn't know me in the first place. =/ What isssssss going onnnn?

I got the same message. Not a big deal, just ignore it if you don't want to talk to her. If she doesn't show up in the members list and doesn't say anything in the club, then she isn't a member. Some reason the poems just show up, just add it to the Janis fix list.

Frickin' Janis.

I didn't see this coming. Janis shows up... and adds tons more problems!

No worries, she isn't associated with your club anymore, it is merely an issue with the new server and the coding. They seem to not be working well together, hence all the other issues popping up as well.

All of these issues are a pretty simple fix...but like all things, Janis needs to do it, which may take some time. But let's keep our fingers crossed, I mean after all, he's been on the site several times already in the past few days.

I'd like to add to the list that under the favorite topics button if you have more than 1 page of favorited threads if you try to click to page 2 or any besides the main page, it automatically takes you to the "your topics" button instead. This has been this way since they first created the button I believe though, but it could be put on janis's to fix list. The "your topics" button doesn't seem to have any glitches though.

*edit* I didn't see the other thread, I'll post this there too so it can be added to the list.

Most of the following have already been discussed and maybe Im digging up old turf but Ill add them down here now that its topical and Janis seems to be lurking around a little.

1. The voting system - In my opinion, should be abolished.

2. Weekly contest -
a) Nominations page; some poems slipping off the page (I think only 25 or so poems can stay on the current nominations page, ones with only one nomination sometimes disappear.)
b) Altering the points distribution for each poem: There is a big difference between 10pts and 4pts for poems that may be almost equally worthy of a win in a given week.
c) If possible, it would be nice to have it as an anonymous contest: Judges dont know who wrote what poem, dont know what poems other judges voted for etc. Im not sure how this would work of it it were possible.

3) Cleaning up the site: Updating the layout, etc. Including:
a) Club lists: Old unsed clubs could be deleted.
b) Moderator list: Needs to be updated.
c) New sorting category for poems: Being able to sort poems on your profile by genre, not having to pidgeon-hole your poem into sub-genres etc.
d) I see the new addition to the front page as unnecessary (adding top rated poems) as they already have their section. It only clogs up the main page with the same poems over and over. A daily featured poem would be better in this space, rotated from past weekly winners randomly if possible. It would be interesting to have a different old poem to read each day. Although that might be asking a wee bit much!

Im sure there are other things that could be added to this, these are just off the top of my head.

4) Security - Obviously needs updating.

- The newsletter at the bottom of the home page, I dont think that works. It would be nice if it did, even a monthly or fortnightly one.
