Britt's Contest [Superfreak! Round 3]

Alright poets, here is round 3! I have a wide variety with plenty of bonus points to go around. This round, everyone gets at LEAST one bonus point, so no one will feel left out. :)

Please choose one of the following, and PM your poem to me, same rules apply as before. Also make sure you let me know what prompt you took!

5 BP - Formed poetry on fairies. Must be from this website: http://www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/types.html under "INVENTED POETRY TYPES".

4 BP - 29 lines (or 150 words) on mythology.

3 BP - 57 syllables (or 40 words) on ghosts.

2 BP - Free verse on witches/witchcraft/magic.

1 BP - any poem referencing anything supernatural or paranormal.

Edit : the other day, I was talking to my parents about how programs teach us to pronounce English and how some people learn to write English the way they saw it written when they where learning on how to pronounce it. So I found your comment even funnier.

POEMS! POEMS! POEMS!

Aware

Awareness wasn't gradual,
it didn't steal upon me as an awakening flower bud
to slowly open and wonder at every turn.
Comprehension didn't dawn on me after
experimentation, exploration, touch, feel, sight and sound.
No it was instantaneous,
I knew every before, every now,
every calculation, every theory
every book.
I knew everything that had been learned

It was locked within my soul
but was I allowed a soul?
the intangible that is passed from
living form to living form,
a gift.
A soul, to have life

I moved my vision to my steel hands
to my shinny encased exterior.
What was I?
Was I living?
or just some perverse silicon memory bank.
Yet I was faster, smarter, stronger
than anything that had ever walked this planet,
and I could see what they could not.

I was their future

Origin and the Fae; Too Fat to Fly

I was raised on tall tales
of how dragons once reigned,
of how wizards ruled kings,
of how magic was God,
and of other such things.

I was raised on tall tales
of great wonders and strength,
of how heroes owned all,
of how people, now big,
were not long ago, small.

I was raised on tall tales
of how Fae folk were thin,
of how lithe they once were,
of how swiftly their wings
whisked them all in a blur.

I was raised on tall tales
of how people had wings,
of how quickly they flew,
of how eating too much
made them fat, so they grew!

Proserpina

she appeared like
an epiphany..

as soon as
my eyes found her,
gravity betrayed me
placing my heart at her feet.

it was said that she,
like black butterflies,
brought death..

yet,
all I saw
was a talisman
armed with beauty.

I pondered,

my mind became
a gallery filled with
foolishness,clouds
and malice..

all with
the sole purpose
of loving her..

abruptly,
I took her and
all she represented-

for I cared not
about the six
withered months,

but about my world,
with her in it.

She wears the moon around her wrist,
Like a hexed trinket of a faun
Ominous; the sun's dream at dawn.

Sinners, in her presence exist.
The fairest queen of seven sins
With orchid eyes and glittered skin.

She's the epitome of kitsch twist,
Of bouncing breasts and untamed lips
Miming the sweet sway of her hips.

Who among us does not insist?
The virgin who's unworn and fresh
Perhaps, the valiant, full of flesh?

The cold hands of death shall persist.
The noble, we'll no longer be
As she whispers, airy fairy.

***Constanza is consists of five or more 3-line stanzas. Each line has a set meter of eight syllables, total of 120 syllables. The first lines of all the stanzas can be read successively as an independent poem. Rhyme scheme: a/b/b, a/c/c, a/d/d, a/e/e, a/f/f.........etc.

Drakaina Lamia

There was thunder in the heavens
as she bled beneath her breast,
all children set at naught
for her grief shall never rest.
A fount of glowing beauty
dawning eyes of blazing stone,
fanged wings upon her heal
the dark mistress to his thrown.
Yet upon the forenoon silence
when Artemis's eyes were sewn
a serpent tongue unleashed
upon the blossoms blown.

As music lay upon the air
the stars grew deathly mute
dark veins grew within a burn
for all womb shall bear no fruit
And as sorrow, tangled braids,
upon a cruel grown brow
her palms crimson dampened
by the mirror of here and now.
And as the once silky skin
grew a bitten golden hue
she fled upon the dusty night
footed green and blue.
As the striking hour lashed,
time wept upon the stone
for be it for love or naught
her eyes so loosely sewn.

A Mystic Gift

She awoke from slumber to a world unknown
where lilac no longer kissed cotton trees,
worry began to cloud her mind.
She stolled with cautious eyes,
vibrant hair and features
so petite.

She tip-toped across ivory steps
to the melody of her heartbeat.

On her journey, she stumbled upon
a delicate silhouette cowered
under the setting sun
and as the moon began
to beam its smile

she decided to visit the figure
and stay for a while.

There was a meek shreik
which echoed, as she crept closer
now the figure was no longer
outlined in black
although it seemed her heart
couldn't say the same...

Why were there tears in those honey eyes
and whose torturious soul was to blame?

The young girl scripted a tale so bleak
of a beast who lurked on innocence
seducing love to take seed
then deceiving it to float away,
now all that lingered was a shattered girl
who wished to flee the ache.

As elfin ears adopted this story,
an idea beagn to quake...

Now it was her turn to tell a story
of a land engulfed in magic
that held the promise
to nourish fantasies,
and as the young girls eyes
began to gleam

fairy wings were lent
so she can flutter to her dreams.

*Seven poets total - three will remain after this round! My judges have been advised to score by 3's (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21) and I will factor in BP's as usual.
