SWOT ANALYSIS

Hello guys,

Learning how to do a SWOT analysis has definitely been one of my highlights in college. I think SWOT analysis are the dopest thing! Its basically finding your (S)trengths and (W)eaknesses and align them in a way where you can use them to maximize or minimize your (O)pportunities and (T)hreats.

example: your weakness is that u ugly, your strength is that you funny. You can use a maxi-mini strategy.. to get by...you ugly, but you funny so they forget that you ugly...

and then they are more strategies

maxi-maxi (using a strength to capitalize an opportunity)
mini-maxi (using a weakness to capitalize of opportunity)
mini-mini(using a weakness to avoid a threat)

the greatest thing is that you can apply swot analysis not only to organisations but to everything!

... I literally cringed when I read the thread's title. It seemed such a silly thing to do even though logical when analysing an organisation. But I never thought of applying it to myself, clever thinking!

But now I'm confused as to how to do this ._. I seem to come up with weaknesses and threats only

how can u use a weakness to minimize a threat?

For my assignment i had to analyze Unicef right.

so one of Unicef's main weaknesses is that they do not criticize governments, they work with whatever regime there is in a country in order to get funds for the work they do.

a threat for Unicef is Syria's refugee crisis.
People are wondering why Unicef/U.N isn't coming for the neck of politicians in the country.

- Unicef avoids backlash by emphasizing that criticizing governments is not something they do as an organisation.

....think about it!

On personality:

- One of my weaknesses is that I am not fluent in dutch
- my threat is that I'm in a dutch speaking country

I avoided my need to speak fluent dutch by putting myself in an international atmosphere within a dutch speaking country...

so I avoided a threat, by using a weakness...

Interesting! I was wondering what this was all about and am also a bit confused about it...let me re-read it again and see what I can analyse about me!

Perhaps:
I have a self-assessed weakness of being overly emotional.
I converted it to a strength by learning to express my emotions in verse.

In conversation I get emotional at times to the point of getting choked up. I have converted it by deliberately pointing out that "this" has me choked up. That is, by acknowledging my emotion I am able to own it.

Okay, I re-read and re-read what we are meant to do but this sounds more difficult than I thought

So my weakness is overthinking and expecting something to be overly complicated to the point that when i find an answer to something simple - I doubt my answer and hence I doubt myself.

my threat is to not understand this thread and subsequently not post anything so I used my weakness of overthinking and doubting myself as a strength to post my answer in this thread in hopes that I can realize that I almost understood what we were meant to do and that whatever we were meant to do wasn't as complicated as I think it is
