First of all, thank you so much to all that participated. I received a total of eight votes. Out of those eight votes, four of them went to our winner.

    Poem #2

    You, a vacated star –
    with death throes painting
    the skies in colours
    unfathomable to the eye,
    let loose the black-hole
    in your ribs.

    There’s nothing different
    at first; everyone gravitates
    towards you. It’s only when
they peer into your eyes and
notice the way your eyes will
swallow all the light and reflect
    nothing back, that they’ll begin
    to dread of what’s next.

    And what’s next?

    You –

    You.

    A winner!!
Congratulations, Mark. You were up against some corking poems, all of them dark, but as we see, not nearly dark enough! :)
Thanks Lucero for running this contest.

    You’re welcome.

    Also thanks to:

Mr. Darcy for writing Poem #1 Our love is gone (acrostic)

Muted bright was snuffed that night
    Under the sightless sky.
Scabbards drew but not for fight
    Cause reason knew not why.
Oil dark drenched skin and all
    Beheading light and love;
Less than nowt, a covered shawl
    Amongst the wingless doves. -
Can words collapse a molten sun
    Kidnapping it before it’s done?

Star for writing Poem #3 Contaminated

    You painted our life black,
telling me it would keep us
both warm in this cold world.

Though I had no say, I accepted
    without any thorough thought.

Maybe it was a chance for us
to finally find a place to call
    home,

    but whenever it became dark,
    there were no clear windows
    to look outside, not enough
    light to help me catch
a glimpse of a shooting star.

    You rubbed me of life,
    I was never safe inside.

    MaryAnn for writing Poem #4

no longer an impression of you.

you were painted the darkest black,
    a chasm of bankrupt souls,
submerged far beyond the ocean floor.

i could not find you anywhere.

perhaps that's what needed to happen
for me to find my own light,
and stop relying on miracles of redemption.

Milly for writing Poem #5 MUSUO BLACK

How do you do? I'm Musuo Black.
The darkest paint you'll ever meet
Dip your car or paint your tar
My paint finish is a treat

They call me the Black Ninja
I'm so dark I hide the light
Almost as strong as Vanta Black
I bet I'd beat him in a fight

My skin is cold, no light to warm
    Light repellance guaranteed
I'm the best there's ever been
And I also dry with speed

Ha! Thanks Mr. Larry! I knew “that” didn’t sound right when I typed “to all that participated.” Haha it’s who.
