*smiles* rock, easily...who wants to listen to a bunch of meaningless rhymes (aka rap)?? and rock bands aren't always singing/writing songs about killing yourself, ever listen to saves the day? or ac/dc? or she hates me by puddle of mudd?? those bands don't sing about people killing themselve and that song isn't about people killing themselves....

Rock- no contest. RAP is for people with the ability to write lyrics (in some instances) but no musical vision at all. Thats why they all sample eachothers music in there songs. Rock is for people with the ability to write lyrics and music.

    * The only exception I can make to the rule is Eminem (I know- very stereotypical). I don't like his music much, but i can atleast respect what hes doing. As for the rest of them- noone cares how much money you've got, how many women you were with last saturday, how many cars you drive, how you deal drugs and fuck the police or how your gang is gonna kick the worlds ass. Get over yourselves and get a real day job.

Can't spell crap without rap, but I still respect it as a form of poetry. But for me, again, ROCK is my favorite.

rap or rock... it doesn't matter cuz I'll rock ya block.
Rap the crowd in circles until the ceiling drops.
Say something so lyricaly spoken, it il have the crowd in a daze
Probably take 4 minutes to settle, until they knew what the hell I was saying.
    Im just a foreign kid
    mixed with rock and rap
having "Helena" blaring on the my headphones
as I rock my Rhymesayers cap
hearing "so long and good nite!!"
    while scribbling on my notebook
    I come to my epiphany
I forgot how many of those I took. (aww crap)
Anyway, mainstream rap is nothing but jokers
with the exception of a just a few acts
the seem to have lost the way
its all about the money, and not about the rap
I shout this across the crowd
as I bring upon the harm
I raise my fist in victory
with "ATMOSPHERE" written across my arm.

both are good depending on the artist. I'll listen to any song that has a good message behind it. And if the song is catchy i can't help but like it. for example. "ass like that" by eminem. no message behind it, no real point to it, but catchy as hell. But I think I'm partial to rock. No particular reason, i just like it better
