should we eat meat???

hey guys, welcome to philosophy 101. i just read a book about philosophy. there's one argument about vegetarians. some think that eating meat is not right, others say its normal. just wanna know what you think!!!

thanx for that, but what are the vegetarians' real reasons for avoiding eating meat? some people out there are vegans who totally do not use any product from animals (hides, leather and stuff). just wanna touch on that matter.

I agree w/ GN about the whole evolution theory, and since we are mammals, we eat other species to survive. However, to state weither it is right or not, is not our place to say. Every1 has thier rights and can choose for themselves... for the most part.
Anywayz, vegetarians and vegans dont eat meat becuz they think killing animals are wrong.

I think everyone is right...some animals are killed inhumanely, but we need meat to grow properly...if anyone here is religious...it says in the Bible that God created animals for man, not to take advantage of that or anything...but just to say that eating animals is okay...

exactly Rachelle....i live on a beef farm my family raises beef cows for the exact purpose of food...that is what they were put on earth for...it isnt inhumane when done properly...but each person has their own personal views and that is exactly what they are entitiled to...

well we need meat its apart of the life cycle but i think that we should only kill cows for meet not anything else...i fell bad though and probably one of these days i will turn veggitarian cause i have a soft heart that no one sees :-)

Mmmm...big juicy steak...lol...aparently red meat make you randy tho (lol just thought I'd fling that in there). I eat meat, I disagree with killing animals for sport but we all have to eat. If I had to kill an animal myself to eat then I would do it, I wouldnt like it but...I'd have to eat and im not such a hipocrit that would refuse to watch the death of something was going to eat or kill it myself. Luckly though I get my meat from shops so have never had to kill anything.

I was entering this topic hoping to find a retard saying that to eat meat is wrong.

Haha! ok Max my friend is a christian and she goes to a christian school and she's a god freak (not being mean!) and she is also a vegetarian (sp?) so yes, and does it say it's a sin or it's wrong?. Haha i don't read the bible, never have so i wouldn't know.

If you eat something you are killing something. If you eat a carrot you kill a plant, the carrot, to further your own life. The same goes for eating budgies, dalmations and great white sharks. if it meant staying alive we'd eat them all.

Vegetarians may well be animal lovers but they're vegetablist... indiscriminantly picking on poor innocent potatoes and cucumbers.

Bottom line is that humans are omnivores, designed to eat meat, vegetable, fruit, grain and pulse. Live the dream, eat a hamster salad.

Lol! True. Humans are omnivores therefore they should eat vege and meat-duh. Who are we to defy nature? Also it is not against christianity to eat meat. Im a christian and I eat meat and I always will. I cant stand nambi pambi's who are against eating meat "Oooh dont kill the ittle wittle cow please"-give me streangth!

I am a vegetarian, have been for about 6 years.

Before you all start with the comments telling me that I should eat meat, it tastes so good and all the other opinions you have posted above - I would just like to say that I have no need or want to do so.

Unlike some people above I am not going to type abuse at meat eaters, like they have vegetarians, as I think this is pointless. you chose to eat meat because you like the taste, or for other reasons. I have my own reasons for being vegetarian, it is all about choice and what an individual feels comfortable with.

If you disagree with the vegetarian way of life then fine don't become one ! It's simple. However that doesn't give anybody the right to critise and abuse others for chosing that way.

True, But I don't eat any meat other than chicken...my stomach is messed up so I get sick if I do.

As Ari said everything we eat is alive..so why not eat meat?

Eat meat by all means, choose not to if that is what you want. Some people may not eat certain types of meat due to their religous beliefs.

In my case I love to eat meat and vegies.
