It's all the fault of mainstream society and Hollywood for engraving this image of supposed beauty in people's heads. They tell us that the maxim for attraction is thin. Media tries to make us believe that the only beautiful people are the thin ladies and buff men you see on television and in movies, and in music. Simon Cowell told Kimberly Locke that she wouldn't go far in the music industry because of her size. Well folks, she was in the top three of American Idol and has a hit CD featuring "Eighth World Wonder" - which is a gorgeous song. I am a little overweight myself, [5'8", 177lbs and enough muscle to bench 140lbs]but that never stopped me from becoming the 18U International Jujustu Champion in 2004. And it didn't stop me from starting my own band [lead singer/backing guitar] and won't stop me from being as successful as any other Joe or Jane out there. Weight shouldn't be the determining factor of beauty or success. People who think otherwise are closed-minded, idealist pigs!

I Agree....Fat People Don't Like To Be Called Fat....Some Skinny People Are Offended By "Too Skinny" Jokes ....So Its Better If You Leave It Alone All Together xoxo-Nikki-xoxo

I know many thin women who HATE their bodies. Some wish they were what we call voluptuous. I believe the rule is to NOT talk to ANY woman about her weight. As for men...do they care? HAHA

  • Synyster

And I am so tired of average-size or under-weight girls who think they are fat. Being able to fit into a size eight would be a feat in itself for me. So why complain that you can't fit into a skimpy size 3? You are beautiful and should be happy with what you have. Like I said above, I am overweight, but I am happy with myself. I am not constantly telling myself that I'm morbidly obese and getting obsessive-compulsive about losing weight just so I can fit into tiny clothes or be skinnier than my friend. People should be comfortable in their bodies and not obsess about their image or what other people say so much.

"The problem lies where everyone tries to be so nice to each other and real feelings don't get spoken or jokes don't get told. I mean, if the person is fat, they already know."

No. The problem lies with people like you who are rude and inconsciderate to others for trivial things. I know I'm fat, but I don't think I have to be told that every waking minute of my life.

I was that cute, happy little girl in elementary school who wore cute pink jumpers and hair ribbons, but cried because she got picked on, called "fatty" and "whale". I was the one who sat by herself, with no one to talk to, on the swings while the others played kickball and jumped rope, because they wouldn't include me. I was the one who dressed like a boy and sat by herself in middle school because the popular girls [who were all pencil thin] didn't like me and called me names when they passed my table. And the guys thought I was a lesbian and called me a dyke. I was the one in high school who went goth and had no friends becuse they didn't give her the time of day in middle school. I was the loner because they wouldn't accept me because I wasn't just like them.

It was people like you who made my life Hell and everyday made me want to die. But it's people who I've met outside of school who are understanding and don't judge that way who made life livable again. Before you insult another person that way, think of the effects it has on their lives.

Aaww Eclipse there went another side of you. ;) I wear a size 9 and I am not fat. If you're wearing a size 8 you are NOT fat. I weigh 145 and I love my body...I love everything about myself. I'm not conceited just confident (there is a difference) There have been girls look down upon me as I am not a size 0-1 but should I care? No, they look like they're dying and I look healthy.

I don't care what you say. It's that you say it. It hurts. I never mean to start fights. I voice my opinions, speaking truth... The only thing I get back is your manevolence. It's people like you and the ones who tormented me in school who made me how I am today. It's they who ruined my life. You're continuing my pain and further hardening my heart. I trust no one and people who do what you do only sharpen that mistrust.

You sound just like Natalie. You claim it's all in honesty, but you're mean about it. What you call fighting back is unecessary verbal abuse. There is really no need to 'fight back' if there is no fight. You remind me of those girls in middle school. Even if what they said was true, they always had to say it like it was a bad thing and made me feel awful, even if I shouldn't have. They broke me. But in the words of Scott Albert, "It's better to be broken than to break."

Look, being a size 12 is averege for a woman. and, If your like me and really tall, you arent going to be a size 1. Just because your a bigger size does mean you have fatness. No girls think they're fat because they look at Linsay Lohen, Mary Kate Olsen, ect. Those people that you see on the cover of magazines being stalked by paparazzi, and having their faces posted on walls, are going to be really petite. Im 5'10, and size 5-7. Does that make me fat? No. It makes me tall, and averege for a teenager. Has anyone ever used a BMI calculater? Try it, it will let you know if you have fatness.
    Cheers, Emily.

I think I'm fat. Not incredibly obese but definetely a little overweight. I'm working on it though. I've been chubby most of my life (especially right now cuz grandma stayed for 6 months) but I'm getting there slowly.

It does sting if someone says you're fat. But it doesn't happen to me so much now... whether it's cuz I'm skinnier now than I was in elementary or people are just nicer... I don't really know. I just haven't been called fat in awhile.

I admit it does feel good to be called hot or sexy (by someone you know and like of course LOL) but I really don't want to rely on what other people think to feel good about myself. At least that way, I'm not a six year old girl crying myself to sleep anymore.

I'm thin - Out of all of my friends I'm the thinest - Only this year I made the 'Average weight' for my age group! I'm not unhealthy but I am thin...

    I'm 13 and I weigh 38kg - all my friends weigh 45-50.

Trust me, it's not only fat people that get annoyed, thin people do as well!

You sound like a real jerk.

" Face it. Size 12 is fat."

That's too much of a general opinion.

    Put it this way:
A 39 year old woman who's had three children and is a size 12. Fat? Not really.

A 10 year old girl, does no exercise and a size 12 in waist. Fat? I would say so.

Saying a size 12 is fat is too general for circumstances.

  • Bri

i am over weight but it's like if u have a friend who smokes... they r both health risks.. it's just it's considered wrong or injust to tell a person they need to lose weight becuz like half of america is over weight now. there's a difference in suggesting to a friend they need to get in shape and like parents criticizing their 6 yr old kids for being "too fat". "fatness" is a problem just like any other.. it should be treated like every other bad habit is treated.

JustPlainMe: My weight isn't all fat - mostly muscle and height weight. I wear a 12 because my hips are curvy - not because I have a thick layer of fat there. But that's beside the point. Don't you have anything beter to do with your life besides insult people for such trivial things? You are [how old?]and you still act like a school yard bully. That's really immature[FYI: I'm not 16 - I'm 18, thank you]. I am an athletic, curvy, size 12, Russo - Italian female and proud of it and I don't want losers like you telling me to think otherwise. Get a life.

well i wasnt trying to get peopl to be mean by asking that question. I just wondered why its insulting to be called fat and is such an inapproprate thing to say. Its like my friend was big and she broke my bed and our bed settee once, but its not ok to tell her not to sit on things or whatever :S why is that?
