I think it has something to do with it being hurricane season! hmm just a guess! I don't believe in God, so thats just my theory, and I agree with the above statements too.

hey I was thinking the other day...you know how the greenhouse effect is mealting the earth or w/e well I was thinking, eventually *in a VERY long time* the earth is just going to keep getting warmer and warmer so its going to end up being a sun....I think the sun at one time *a VERY long time ago* was something like earth

Yeah I'm w/ her ^^^ God has a reason for everything good or bad. Eventually everything works out. He looks after us. Ppl may die from the Iraq thing that are clearly innocent but thats not God doing it. Its us. He lets us make our own choices and if we make the wrong one then thats our fault not his...

We push and pull and distroy mother nature so much. We try to change the world for our own good. There's only so much our world can take before it fights back.

I don't mean to play down any recent disasters or deaths, but if you look at modern history, there were far, far worse catastrophes happening repeatedly over the last 100 years than anything that is going on now.

Wars during the 20th century were responsible for over 100 million fatalities. A single flu epidemic in 1918 caused 500,000 deaths. Six earthquakes each took the lives over 50,000 people. At the height of the Great Depression in the 1930s, 1 out of every 4 US workers were unemployed.

For 30 years there was widespread, constant fear of an imminent nuclear Armageddon. As far as environmental doom is concerned, a 40-year-long global cooling trend during the mid 20th century had many scientists warning of an impending ice age.

The world today is far from perfect but I'd much endure what we are experiencing now.

My theroy is that Iraq or another middle eastern country is just really ticked off at us, and they planted a Hurricane machine in the Alantic Ocean.. THATS WHERE THEY ARE ALL COMING FROM!

either that or its all Karma, what goes around comes around ey?

OR the world is coming to an end..

"... they planted a Hurricane machine..."

    LOL!!!

Ironically, my class was talking about this today.
It's all about the polar ice caps (or whatever they are), they have melted, and caused temperatures to changes, causing natural disasters. This is from our use of gas, electricity etc., the weather is changing vastly; in 8 years, we will not be able to do ANYTHING to solve the ozone layer problem. It'd be too late by then.

    WE are to be blamed.

How does anyone truly know what is going on?
Scientist themselves cannot prove certian things.
Alot of people think that global warming is caused by humans.
But it might even just be the earth it's self.
    No one truly knows.
So sit back and enjoy the ride.

There is definitely some of inconsistency with what we are being told.

Environmental spokespeople now want us to believe that hurricanes are caused by human-induced global warming. But think about it. If global warming is causing the polar caps to break away and melt (and I believe it is), wouldn't the melting glacial ice be having a cooling effect on ocean temperatures, just the same as placing an ice cube into a glass of water? Hurricane activity increases with RISES in the ocean temperatures.

Climatologists that study hurricanes tell us that cyclical warming and cooling trends in the Northern Hemisphere's east Atlantic Ocean have always existed. Each cycle lasts for several decades and causes either increased or reduced hurricane activity. According to them, we are now 10 years into a warming cycle with greater hurricane activity.

The earth has never been static or stable. It is always undergoing natural changes, sometimes gradual and sometimes abrupt. And global warming and cooling cycles have taken place normally and naturally for past millenniums. Without global warming, how else could the earth have recovered from several separate glacial periods when ice covered most of the earth's surface?

I suppose we could choose to believe it happened because of methane-emitting prehistoric animals roaming around in gas guzzling SUVs.

    *Haven't read the posts*

God isn't punishing anyone. We've made all this happen by ourselves. We are destroying nature in order to build buildings, houses and stuff. We destroy the trees, kill animals and most of the time its just for fun. Buildings that work with organic, chemical material, deliver their gas garbage to the air and it goes up into the worlds cape and into the clouds. All these things (And many many others) make the desbalance in nature, causing hurricane, tornados and earthquakes to occur.

    Take this as an example:

Rich and famous people order in stores animal coats, shoes, clothes, purses and many other things. They want them to be made with fur, feathers, tiger skin and many other natural materials. And my question is, why do they want them to be made of animals? What will they gain by wearing these things? It just causes many animals deaths, wich reduces our food, and many other natural desbalances to happen. People ignore this and then ask themselves why nature is reacting this way. There you got an answer. God isn't punishing us, It's our own fault. We've made all this happen.

We are human. We have conceptual thought and need for material things.
We need things because well we need them.
Why do you need a computer that sucks up energy you could conserve for something else.
You are just as greedy stop placing blame.
Global warming is a natural thing it happens all through out history.

"it was actually a little closer to 30 million..."

Wow! I missed the mark by a mere 29.5 million in flu casualties. The number I quoted above was actually the US death toll, which was obviously a small fraction of the total flu deaths worldwide.

    But speaking of flu ...
I'm usually skeptical about “gloom and doom & sky is falling” predictions. But the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus has the potential to become a real threat. The existing virus can only be spread from birds to humans. But it wouldn’t be too great a leap for this virus to mutate into a strain that is transmitted from human to human. If that happens then the impact could be devastating.

yes, we decide how we want to live and we've made this natural desorders happen, thanks to our ignorance and the need for materials.

really golden princess our need for material causes the tectonic plates to shift and collide causing folding and faulting? (earthquakes) and of course i guess we created to much wind and caused hurricanes too? while we are stupid and ignorant our need for material isn't a large contributer to the occurence of natural disasters

We are a human plague. Did you know that the earth should really only have between 0.5 and 1 billion people on it. That is how many people it can reasonably support without long lasting environmental and ecological damage.

There are too many of us and we are greedy and selfish. But fear not...we can never destroy the earth...it will clean us up pretty soon methinks...say in the next 100/180 years...there is always balance eventually...always....an iceage...a meteor...a plague...a bomb or two...it doesn't really matter...it happened to the dinosaurs and who knows how many other creatures before them...it will happen to us no matte what planet we run to.

I agree absolutely Kevin! It is so true, maybe we'll end up like dinasours, dead by earthquakes or burned by volcano fire.
