`[W I T C H C R A F T] .. What's Your Opinion ..?

For my English topic, we are learning about witches and things. So, I did a little research, and i was astonished with the things I've found, like :

    1. Witches are usually good. They concertrate on their energy, and most live by a rule which says that they are to do NO harm. And if they do so, harm will be brought upon them.

    2. It's not all about frog legs, owls eyes, and ears of rabbits. The spells I've come across are for protection, healing, and so on. Not for making your enemy's life a living hell, or causing evil.

    3. There are [[3]] types of 'Magic' (Yes 3 ..!!)
    A. White Magic - Spells that consist of protecting oneself, healing, and bringing your body to peace.
    B. Grey Magic - Spells that are cast for the good, but end up hurting someone. Even if a Witch has meant NO harm at all, and it does harm someone, there are consequenses.
    C. Black Magic - Well, it's exactly that. Black magic. Used for evil ... harm, and selfish acts.

The more I research the more intrested I become. There are many different types of Witch religions that have been passed down from ancestors and from the early centries. But is it true ..??

Is Witchcraft just finding your inner energy and peace. Or is it streotyped, big black hats, and evil chants ..??

    What's your opinion ..??

It's all commercial garbage nowadays, mostly. Books of "spells" for finding love, money and all the things you humans seem to think are eternally important.

Thing is, every one of the these spells does nothing more than focus your mind on a subject....as you tie knots in a bit of string, or make up some "potion" you are meant to be concentrating on the desired effect, and that, the focus of the mind is the real magick.

So, ditch the fancy knives and get with your mind.

Wicca used to be a religious sects depending on each pantheon they call forth. Now it is seen as nothing more than illusionary means to get "dumb" money.

I have many books on Wiccan Magik. It's interesting to find out about this subject, but I wouldn't dare try a ''spell''. I'm not a strong believer in witches, Good or bad.

i'm sort of like a believer of witches and sometimes do chants but i mean, my parents don't kno so, yea. umm....witches r not pure evil. i may not be WHITE magic, i might be GREY MAGIC. i'm not that innocent

I do believe witches coexist somewhere, and I believe black magic exists in which they associate with the devil. It is very possible, and true. I don't know about good witches and all that. Oh well, fairy tales are so brainwashing. x]

What I never got was how can one person just make themselves feel better with a spell? It's all in your mind. Do you actually think casting a spell to make you heal from love is going to solve anything? I think not.

  • ashley

i dont think its all in the mind...a guy i kno got heavy in witch craft and it scared him to death one time he done a spell and ever since then he cant talk about it he just freaks out.....its real and if you believe strongly in it and you go to the write places things happen....i done a spell once but it was to block me from other spells that will try to hurt you afterwards i felt relaxed and everything wasnt so bad as it was i was taking lessons but ive dropped them....

antique store? damn. where is that? lol. i've heard my friend saying about WICCAn and i'm really curiouse cuz like last week i made a spell, but i need to do more things for that spell to wrok, so i thought i won't do it. anyways, idk. she said that if i didn't do it right, the spell imade for someone will come back to me. and it's sort of true. the spell was to make someone sad or mad when they're having a great day. lol. and becuz i've been happy i think it's coming back cuz i get sad or mad. lol. or maybe that's how i really live my life. sad mad and happy. lol. it's hard to make a spell on me cuz u won't see the difference. lol

It's real when you confine it to that 'healing' herb medicine realm. Wiccan, Pagan (which strangely resemble early Christianity rituals), and Druidism, all still exist today. but as a religion. As another way to explain existence. and the meaning of life. Not as a catchall end to all your troubles. or some kind of ticket to easy street. cos anything beyond that, I'm not buying. I've done some research. as much as possible for me anyway. found that among real gypsy clans in europe and voodoo tribes in africa, as well as south american witch doctors..old, old, but still thriving cultures, there's substantial rumor of such 'magik' existing. The actual cases are few and far between, and I don't think any of these 'true practicers' sell their secrets willfully, if at all. Thus, new age, anything you might read in a book bought at the local dime shop, a magik spell found online, or Borders, whatever, seems to be pure kitch.

Witchcraft as in Wicca, is really beautiful. Though I personally am of Islamic faith I have done a lil reading on Wicca and I think it stands on beautiful principals. The focus being on nature and living in harmony with nature, use of natural products and energies harnessed to create a sense of balance in ones life...the spells and rituals are rather interesting as well. I think each or to their own really, if Wicca is your choice of belief...more power to you :o)

  • Kevin

Didn't you guys listen to me?

First off you cannot buy any real books on Wicca, because the real practice of magick cannot be taught in a book, and on the rare occasions where a real teacher puts down their understanding in writing, you would not be able to buy it from any shop, as It will be a personal diary passed onto their student, if they have one who is deserving.

I'll say it again, the kind of books you can buy in the shops on Wiccan and magick and utter nonsense, nothing more than vain exagerated tales made up for desperate lost teenagers who want to be all dark and mysterious feel some self of power and control.

It's bullshit. There is no magick except the limits of the mind.

Ask yourself this. Did any of the known mystics and completely evolved souls, like Jesus, Budha, Sai Babba etc etc use spells or funny knives etc? No, they only spoke of learning, understanding.

  • mistressxsork

Kevin, did you not listen to me? I don't want to learn spells or potions. That is crap. That isn't real to me.

''It's bullshit. There is no magick except the limits of the mind''

    ^^MAGIK sweetheart =).

In my personal opinion, I do think Wiccan/ The Craft or whatever name you prefer to call it, is real to those who believe it.

If someone personally believes it's garbage, that's them, but to other people there really is that level of "spirituality and magik/magick" for them.

People really do overblow this topic into something completely controversial.

Witchcraft does happe, but may i ask are you reasearching 'wictcraft' or paganism or wicca? Because all these things are slightly different, but the stereo-typical view of witches is not true! and all wiccan/pagans/witches have one rule (actually they have a big thing called the wiccan rede) and it is 'HARM NONE'

    i love these posts.
ok, i practice wicca which is the craft youre talkin about so heres alil more info for u.
1)all wiccans are good, we live by 2 basic rules
-An it harm none... Do as thou wilt
-three fold-good or bad turns back 3 times
    on u.

2)nothin ive come across is "frog legs" thats just child stories and ignorant christians.

    and fyi
wicca doesnt mean u have 2 practice craft, it worships the God and Goddess.it worships nature, and celebrates sabbats and such(moon phases)
if u do practice craft, spells are the equal of prayer n christianity, its the calling of a higher being to work in ways you wish.if you really want to know more, google these 2 names,
    isaac bonewits (modern author)
    gerald gardener(founder of the religion)
if u want 2 kno more, anyone email me

    that_freaky_chic@yahoo.com

    side note, srry
kevins rite, wicca is a free thought religion, like i said we dont have a "bible" we live by our 2 basic rules.

and btw, the book of spells ur speekkin of is called a book of shadows.

  • ms.understood

srry i kno im probably gettin anoyin, but to the person who said
"It's real when you confine it to that 'healing' herb medicine realm. Wiccan, Pagan (which strangely resemble early Christianity rituals), "
thats cuz christianity changed to suit ppl concertin from wicca to them.and btw, voodo and wiccca are completely diff.

ex.christmas was moved to b closer 2 the birth of the Goddess on 12/21

and u want proof, 1 of my friends *no names mentioned* can control lightening storms, has a 'fire element' personality so cant b burnt by flame and has ben a chanel and possed unwillingly 13 times.

It is annoying of how there are a lot of books out on it now, never do i really plan to buy a book of how to be a wiccan. Witchcraft is really to me just practicing magic were as Wicca involves it into life. Many sources of information differ so I just take it all in and create my own way adding in other religions from Ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece but also adjusting it to fit the modern world. It is an earth and nature based religion and the whole childhood stories of witchcraft are just false. Also the potions and spells, you don't really need a lot of fancy things, just yourself and well something to represent the elements if you wish, also hold in mind the three fold law and the harm none. There is no need for over the top things. Also it is not something to mess with if you are going to do black magic after all it can come back three times worse if the person did not deserve the punishment. It just it is stereotyped like Satanism is. It is not all about potions and spells but more of a being at one with nature and a view of life in another way. It is more open and relaxed than other religions only two rules that cover all/most rather than multiple rules. There is no force to learn anything about it.

  • ms.understood

exactly, see thats what i was talking about before, some wiccans dont even practice magick, just the religion.
    fyi-magic refers to stage tricks
magick refers to practing things like wicca

  • Eibutsina

Its funny you mention that you cannot buy real Wiccan books Kevin, you're right. My grandmother has however passed her knowledge on to all the women in our family by means of the "hereditary" book you speak of, very valid point...

Still I believe there is magic in this world...sometimes we are just too self absorbed and blinded to see it :o)

hi ppl. my aunty is right into witch craft and wicca, when she bought me a fiona horne book (an author of witch books) i was instantly hooked on it. i bought a couple other books and the more i read the more i was intrigued and interested. i dont call myself a witch but i do believe in it and think that witches who do get into magic and wicca is truely inspiring. thats all from me. Blessed Be...

  • ms.understood

yea there r books on pplz VERSIONS of wicca but thats the thing w/ wicca is no 2 ppl have 2 believe n the same way...i think thats what they mean by wicca books or they may mean the book of shadows w/ the spells...

  • Jelz;; Oh,KillMeFast

I think all these books and things are to help the outside world understand. Because stereotyped magik is so strong nowdays and people are believeing the storie other people made up to entertain 5 year olds. The true beliefs and the true religion can only be original and true once it's passed down from generations. After all, it is the fastest growing religion in america (wiccan/paganism) .. Well that's my opinion.

THANK YOU FOR THE REPLIES I DIDN"T THINK THERE WOULD BE MUCH RESPONSE... THANK YOU .

Ms. understood ... I'l email you because i'm trully intrested.

well it really depends I think.... no i know it is real.... but are you talking about wicca or witchcraft cause they are totally deferent things.... wicca is all about nature and yes withcraft is mostly in helping not harming but so many people have seen the movies to where they make the witches evil that they think there is only bad but 75% of it is actually good..... or grey has you put it i love to read about witchcraft and wicca most books about it to are for only good spells.....
