Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West
    Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister

    both by Gregory Maguire

This obession people have with The Da Vinci Code, it makes me want to read the book less and less. I'm not saying it's probably bad or anything - just that whenever a movie or a book come out, that everyone seems to love and talk about, it just turns me off.

I liked Wicked a lot, it was a very different look at "The Wizard of Oz." Currently I'm enjoying the "Baroque Cycle" trilogy by Neal Stephenson.

Try "Diamond Age" and "Snow Crash" by the same author.

As far as nonfiction goes, I think people should check out "The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt," a great biography, by Edmund Morris.

    Great book choices so far.

P.S. If you have the patience, try "Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon

The Lovely Bones was a pretty good book - a little weird, and pretty sad - but it was still OK.
