It can be about any topic, nothing is off limits, its allowed to be explicit if need be, have fun, and happy writing everyone. P.S. This is my very first contest so have fun.

Rules:
1) No slang (Because its very hard to read and usually takes away from the poem itself)
2) No religion (only because there are so many different beliefs that I want this to be a fair contest)
3) NO SELF HARM POEMS!!! (I'm sick of them and I won't be able to judge them fairly)

A thousand miles away,

Thinking of the day,
and thinking of our fight.

the porcelain face of yours.

within miles and miles of doors.

I can see so far within you,

awaiting someone to cast you away

Letters In Lipstick

Lipstick letters border every mirror.
Each one a simple hint of my love for you,
left with wonder of when you'll respond.

Love letters hidden around the house,
signed in red x's and o's,
all to be sealed with a lipstick kiss.

I write you through and through,
yet you only send me two.
When will you get a clue.

Hope forms deep down,
grasping for a sturdy foothold.
Only to find none after so long

Lipstick letters border every mirror.

I love you, so when will you love me too?

I always thought that my heart could take
Any single thing that was sent its way;
The hurt, torture, sent to me direct,
My heart would aimlessly be able to deflect.

Oh how wrong I was, I could not see,
That the heart only works to some degree.
The torment I endured, it prevailed,
And by design, my heart: it failed.

It may be beating, it may even be whole,
But it's really just an image, like an empty soul.
It has no protection, the hurting roams free,

this life of no laughter
soft footsteps of fear
as the white birds spin past

but not only am i blind
my voice is impossible to find.

but i will never surrender

Angel Dust

Let the angels sweep my child and hold her to the sky,
Gently rock her to sleep with a sweet babies lullaby,
Hold her in your arms as a halo floats above her head,
When she falls asleep lay her upon daisy flower bed.

Play with her on clouds as she giggles with such delight,
Please be careful not to wake her as she is afraid of the night,
Watch her eyes glisten with the color of beautiful blue,
When she gets her wings make sure her hearts not askew.

Feed her vanilla custard, As it is her most favorable treat,
White her favorite color, wear slippers upon tiny feet,
Protect her with your presence, make sure she is loved,
Mittens upon pink fingers, through winter keep them gloved.

Throughout cherub heaven will my precious daughter glide,
Forever in my aching heart shall this angel always reside,
Cloaked beyond magic, in a world where it is not my time,
So until then I will go on and sing our hushed nursery ryhme.

Her eyes frozen delights,
Pale snowflakes cross,

The Perfect Blemish:

"If you had the power
To change one thing about me
What would you choose?"
I asked nervously.

He replied, "Nothing."
And I suspiciously asked why.
Then he turned to me
And blissfully sighed.

"Because then you wouldn't be perfect.
And I love you because you're you,
Not because you have potential
Or because I can change your views!"

I smiled and blushed
And turned away sheepishly
I looked back to find him
Staring admiringly at me

It was a blessing to find him
Someone willing to accept imperfection
One who doesn't love me to change me
But someone who loves me with the truest affection

~Sorry about the flow but it was based on something my boyfriend really said to me and I really wanted to turn it into a poem without changing it too much. I hope it's ok! :)

Dreams sway from side to side,
wiping the tears you've most recently cried.
As moments pass by without notice,
and you lay beside the person at rest.

No one can see your deepest insides,
nor the fears that you've hidden beside,
beside the ruins of what once was,
not knowing why or how just because.

You find yourself upon a pile of sand,
drifting into another wonderland.
You've gotten lost within this world before,
but never have you wanted more.

The thoughts of the dead, they lingered behind..
The darkest nights of your defiled mind.
You've taken advantage of what you had,
and lost everything under the sun that made you mad.

And, though a person can only be pushed so far..
I think you've pushed him pass the millionth bar.
And as he lies at rest tonight, you realize that you're learning
the bright side of mourning.
