Feathers

by Arunansu   Apr 23, 2008

Clatter of trams on their tracks
disturbed puddles of depressed sky.

One curious sparrow was watching
a feather swim, in an upside down world.

Some water pearls adorned its barbs. Barbules.

When sunrays broke free, they painted its axis
and delicate branches.

The sparrow hopped closer, studied
that golden vessel.

Something approached. Fast!

Screeched in. Wings got no time
