The roasting

by Arunansu   Jun 15, 2008

One peafowl halted his search.
The air was warming up
to lead a torment.

Insects started a mass exodus.
Vertebrates scampered, fiery oxygen
lit up the wild land.

Imprisoned trees held mute torches.
Dense fumes cloaked the burns.
Fire alarms kept ringing somewhere.
