Gibberish.

by Poet on the Piano   Sep 22, 2014

People are so nice, so nice that it hurts.

(I didn't think kindness could peel away
at the sunburnt layers of my heart).

Two gentlemen opened heavy metal doors
for me this morning. Why did it shock me?

A stranger's car backed up in order for
me to make my turn in time. Why did it touch me?

People aren't as cruel as I perceive them to be,
maybe I've let down myself too often
that I doubt others could be selfless or I,
a deserving recipient.

Is society really driven by self-centeredness?
I'm convinced not, now...
