A Child's Purity

by Ashes of a Black Rose aka Night Child   May 27, 2006

Kids are magical,
But nobody knows it.

Innocence and purity
Radiate from their tiny bodies,
Every little thing brings them joy,
Gives them pleasure.
Curiosity flows in excited sparks
From prying fingertips,
The happy glow of their eyes
Lights up the dimmest rooms,
Their faint,
Sweet,
Clean scent
Brings a smile to everyone's face.
The soft touch of their hands,
Clinging to your body as you hold them,
It empowers you,
Strengthens your soul.
Uncoordinated movements,
Unsurpassable energy,
They are lights no darkness can stain.
The instant they enter your life,
You are overwhelmed by them,
You must protect them,
Cherish and love them.
Your every move becomes tender,
Seamless and gentle.
These miniature beings seem so fragile,
Yet indestructible,
For who could harm a child?

Wow. That's a tear-jerker. I never really read many of your poems. I'm starting to regret that. Luckily I can make that right! lol! 5/5.
