Problem of being Arunansu [Childhood]

by Arunansu   Nov 26, 2007

Playing "Walk, Don't Run"
on an ebony cassette recorder
and my springing around
often added delight
to my makers

Sauntering on a plot of green
warmed in Grandma's newly knit woolen
Dad once pointed,"Look, lizards on that branch!"
"Where?"
"Up there!"
-a camera click.

Fierce arguments
with an open cupboard
choosing apparels
for the little me.

Mom's queries
"Why? Don't you like the
blue one , white stripes?
Even this red one is nice too . . . "

I used to frown
over the problems
of being Arunansu!

At times now
sitting beside Dad's picture frame
I roll over
edges of that carom board
pocketing the 'queen'

So many times I have
tumbled the game in fury

So many times I have screeched
"I HATE TO LOOSE!"

That's the problem
with Arunansu.
