So Tired Of Rabbits

by debbylyn   Mar 18, 2008

Don't buy me a bunny suit
The feet are much too large
And the cottontail upon my rear
Makes my butt look like a barge

Tell the kids the bunny died
To be repalced this year
By a fluffy yellow duckling
With small and dainty ears

I'll still bring out the basket
Filled with chocolate eggs
But instead of hopping awkwardly
I'll have awesome skinny legs

Or better yet I'm thinking
I could dress as wooly lamb
White is very fashionable
Goes well with honey ham

Just get rid of that rabbit
I've worn it way too much
It's time we have a new icon
To occupy this hutch

Nice. Very, very nice. I liked it a lot. A unique twist on something well known is always enjoyable, especially when written well, as you've done. The first and third stanzas were my favorites, but I can't choose one of over the other i'm afraid, sorry. My favorite lines were 'Makes my butt look like a barge' and 'I'll have awesome skinny legs', the addition of 'butt' and 'awesome' really made the character more real, and gave them a bit of an edge. Great piece, as I said, I really liked it.

I love it! Short of Bill Hicks' Lincoln logs from the Sock Drawer Goldfish as an Easter alternative, you've got it spot on! I will read this to my 6-year old son and maybe he can add a comment!
