Blood is Life

by RobinAnn13   Apr 2, 2008

I glance over at the knife
could that be fear in her eyes
Is she worried for her life?
Can she see through all my lies?

She agreed to play this game
She knows that I'm in control
Slowly she rolls up her sleeve
her arm shakes over the bowl

I steady the arm myself
and strike swiftly with my knife
I smile at the crimson rain
"blood is the essence of life"

**This was inspired by a book I read called "The Blood Confession" and by a poem I read by Robert (a member of this site)

Can you guess who it's about?

Very intense dark poem, it has very haunting atmosphere. You created truly powerful imagery in each stanza. I wish that it was longer cause I really wanted to read more. Overall, greatly written piece, it posses some simplicity that highlighted dark details in each stanza. The flow is also very good in the whole piece. You could maybe add a stanza or two, or some metaphors but overall, this is great read.
