This is just the way it goes, well it's all you've known or so i'm told,
So lie to me, feel less empty and hurry on home.
Blow up at the moon and find an excuse for all the mistakes that you have made,
And maybe you'll scream it all away someday.
We both know better but don't say a word because it's all very clear,
It's all changed and it's such a shame that
There'll never be enough to fix what was done here.
The wind of circumstance is blowing a breeze and it's fine with me,
It's not really fair, but it is what it is and i'm well aware that
These are your actions and this is my let down.
It's just the way it goes; well, it's all you've known,
So i hope the world's just as pretty with your back turned to it.
It seems such a waste but i'm so afraid to stick my neck out and wait
For just in case, or perhaps, or maybe i'm wrong.
But I'll still think of you, i'm quite sure i always will do,
Until the die i die, like you said, like you meant, like you thought it were true.
Just for now, let's slip away quietly like we were never around,
It's starting to hurt to find this just another lesson, these are your actions and
This is my let down.
Wow. i knew i was going to like it because the title is from my favourite bright eyes song. the poem has been a long time coming but it was worth the wait.
what you're writing about is nothing new, but the way you do it is. i would love to be able to express myself like this.
your poems continue to amaze me
