And You Wonder Why

by Monica AKA Mika   Jul 7, 2009

Math class 1992- Kindergarten #1 with new faces all around you,
The cool ones, the smart and that quiet one that sits behind you
And you sit and wonder what group of kids you'll respond to.

Fast Forward to Senior year 2008- your awarded class clown and most likely to succeed when you graduate

You fell into the right crowd back in '92 and you have plenty of friends and everybody loves you
-but one.
Rewind back to '92.
That kid that stares at the back of your head everyday at row call
The one that everyone ignored-the one last picked to play kickball.
The boy who sat and ate all alone everyday
...and you wonder why
That girl you listen to in the bathroom while she sits there and cries.
The child who was scared for life from being bullied in class,
The one who was abused and molested-the one who grew up too fast.
Shes the girl with the dingy clothes, the boy with the hole in his shoe,
The one who got tripped everyday by everyone right in front of you.
Fast Forward back to 2008
Your rushing to your 7th period not trying to be late
but your stopped by that kid...holding a 12gate.
Not to you but to their head
-and you try to stop them but
...BANG - dead.
And that BANG is the same sound of that gay boy getting hit with rocks as he's tied to a tree,
That BANG is the sound of the girls head hitting the cement as she gets beat by the entire soccer team.
That BANG is the sound of every locker slammed in the bullied kids face.
That bang just sent that kid to a way happier place.

And you wonder why.
But its too late- you couldn't stop them anymore
But why'd you try to help now, but you didn't before?
Their life was in your hands the whole time, but you didn't know it was on you,
When all you needed to know was that kids name that you sat in front of back in 1992-

....and you wonder why.
