You Set my Words on Fire

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Aug 25, 2009

This soul you've carried around years before my time
has found its way into the beating rhythm of my heart,
allowing me to admire the blossoms of your mind
and to hear the tales of the life I've missed out on.

At times I feel as if what exits my mouth
simply ricochets off the ears of poor listeners,
but you've waltzed into my world of
seeming insignificance and set my words on fire.

Giving me a laughter that has always been just
down the road, you've also given me a friend
to count on in the onyx nights that lie ahead
of this fragile life and young soul within me.

Become my savior and sing a song about Shilo,
knowing Shilo has always been the girl in the mirror.
The echos of music flow through the windy days
and stormy nights, reaching these ears, and making me smile.
