A Magnolia On Red Velvet

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 14, 2010

For eons I have escorted my stealthy gentlemen
and accompanied his courteous dancing partner
only to find that flattering satisfaction doesn't last
but for that moment where I wear a hazy blindfold.
I have been brutally used and overlooked
no one has bothered to caress my lavish skin
never I have failed to make the connection of love
but that is all I have ever wished for myself.
I live humbly outside of floating water lilies
and yearn of that dream-drunk day
when I shall be appreciated for what I do
a sincere kiss upon these thin petal lips.

I sigh with a curtsy to this scarlet carpet
as I am drowned in misunderstanding.
