She Ordered My Life

by Larry Chamberlin   Mar 5, 2010

I was full of myself, full of my sorrow,
And carefully chose the sharpest razor
To bleed the excess, to release the sangre,
But she ordered me to set it aside and dance.

She ordered me to dance:
I did so with abandonment;
She ordered me to put down
My razor and I breathed deep.

She ordered me to live,
And I felt life surge
Inside my darkest soul
And rise up to the light.

She ordered me to love her
And I devoted my being
To raising our children
To know love and laughter.

She ordered my life,
I surrendered my love.
