Perfect Summer Day

Laying on the ground outside
At the early start of morn'
Watching the sun rise from the horizon
As another summer day is born.

The crickets in the background
Sing their joyful humming tune
The best part of the day
Is seven hours before noon.

The colors in the sky
Bring me back to when I was young
It reminds me of an old song
That I had once sung.

'A coat of many colors'
Was a tune that rose to my mind
It was like a sky of many colors
That the Lord had left behind.

The darkness was now fading
And the light shone across the sky
I was picturing myself high above the earth
Where I had wings to fly.

My perfect summer day
Has just started to begin
Now it's time for me to enjoy
The rest of the day with a grin.

Very lovely poem and so vivid in mental pictures, could almost feel that first touch of sunshine on your skin. Loved it :)
