Uncover the Layers

by PinkyPrincess   Nov 20, 2011

What if you saw the real me?
It would be a tragedy to see
You'd have to carve the hardest part
and peel through all of the layers
until you reach my tainted heart.
The more you dig into me
you will realize I'm weaker
than the way I project myself.
You will know why I shield myself
from anything that can alter me.
When you find my hidden treasure
you will grasp that it is not worth much,
for it is nothing that money can buy,
just a hidden, rough stone that lost its shine.

As you peel through the layers of me,
remember to not expect to see much.

Sarah, great piece. As if saying... do this and that to me, but eventually... what?

Great hold on the tempo and the rhyming scheme was amazing. You showed lots of growing-weary emotions and I like it that way.

    Great, great:)
