They Remind Me of You

by A Poets Handwriting aka ALISHA   Feb 9, 2012

I see them sitting there, so pretty.
Sitting there and staring right at me.
They make me reminisce on the time,
when you were still alive and happy.

I know they weren't around then,
but they signify the memory you died.
They represent the loss of us all,
and all those many tears we cried.

Just a box of flowers, so very pretty
But they symbolise so many things.
The life that was replaced by death,
When we're sent to God to grow wings...

Just a box of flowers, so beautiful
But they share so many memories too.
I don't know whether I love or hate them,
All because they remind me of you.

I really liked this and again related to it. I think I could feel the emotion quite strongly here, I firstly liked how you repeated the box of flowers, it reminded me that you were constantly looking at them, secondly, I know exactly the confusion you get when you get the mixed feelings of love and hate. It is so hard to remember the good times when we miss them, we confuse this for a bad feeling as it makes us long for this person to be here again.

    Great work.

Ahhh... I'm tearing up. :( I can relate to this so much, I have a box of dried flowers from when my mother passed away. I'll always keep them, but like you said I don't know if I love or hate them. A wonderful poem, 5/5.
