A crazy night

by Gloria   Apr 29, 2012

I lie down to sleep,
Mom draws the curtains,
She bends down to kiss me,
Says she hopes i see nice dreams,
She closes the door,
Her footsteps fade away,
The faintiest glimpse of light,
Disappeared into the dark night..
Lying in my bed all by my own,
That's when i realize I'm not alone..
I feel something hideous under my bed,
Like someone has just fled away from its lair,
Monsters lurking through the shadows,
Ready to pounce in.
And then suddenly!
The closet door flung open,
And in front of me,
Stood a creature with long pointed teeth,
Blood dripping from its lips,
Its face glowed pale like the moonlight..
Solwly it makes its way towards me,
And whispers in my ear,
"I'll make it quick and painless,
Don't be afraid dear."
Frantically I pull my sheet over my head,
Try to call in for mom and dad..
But my voice gets mute,
I can't breathe!
But i daren't make a move.
Lying there i feel an eternity has passed.
A sickening cackle breaks the silence,
And echoes through the walls,
Something slams hard!
Raising my blanket ever so slightly,
I peek at the window,
Where its lifeless form laid...
Suspended in air.
It grinned at me,
I stifled a scream.
And watched in quiet horror,
As it spun around,
And transformed!
Into a menacing evil,
Its red eyes glinted dangerously in the dark,
It looked at me,
As if mocking on my misery...
Then it flapped its wings,
And diappeared from sight...
I breathed,
A sigh of relief.
And slowly pulled myself out of bed,
As i reached out to my windows,
Something caressed my back,
Shivering miserably,
I turned around...
The room was empty!
Not a sound!
As fast as my numb feet would take me,
I got to my bed,
Panting and gasping,
I covered myself.
As hungry growls filled the night,
And the darkness grew,
I cut myself from the appalling sounds,
And slept it through.

Quick and elaborate! I love the skillful use of suspense, in this. More grease!
