A Simple Change

by Poet on the Piano   Jul 22, 2012

You thought Sunday's were always
good for foot massages and being
entertained by those that aren't
around you-
but in a screen.

Yet when I tried to tell you
of something in my own screen,
you shrunk back,
repulsed that I could ever ask
for a moment to bestow
something you'd have to
sacrifice foolishness for.

The things that change me
should make you foster them;
though change may not be worth
the ease of a feverish Sunday,

or you may not be made of
simple changes and taking the time
to have a heart listen.

I like this write, I thought it was a bit vague but this is the way I understood it.

It seems that you are changing your foot massages to spend time on the internet and with someone who is not near from you, yet this person seems like he/she doesn't feel like giving his/her Sunday to chat. I might be wrong but it is sad when we change our habits or our preferences to spend that time with someone else and that someone else not doing the same for us.

I love how you interpreted it, yes you're right, it's a bit vague. And you're right about the fact that yes, I changed my habits to try and get that person to be with me, spend time with me, but he was still distant...wouldn't do the same for me. In this case I pictured this man watching t.v. straight for hours and when I want to show him something from my own screen, another channel or my computer, to discuss it with him, he refuses, stays stuck to his screen.

Thanks for your awesome thoughts :)
