The Kite Runner

by Baby Rainbow   Aug 18, 2012

In the middle
of a field so green,
grass soft between my toes,
I spin around so freely
looking up at the azure sky
sun rays shining on my face.
The strings from my kite
wrapped tightly in my fingers
as I send it up above.
Freedom fills my entire body
as I watch my colourful kite
soar across the sky.
Extracting the happiness from my heart,
travelling outwards through my hands
reflecting in my kite's movement,
sharing my emotion and excitement
as my kite twirls with endless joy
sharing my happiness with the world.
Racing freely down the hills,
flowers cheering as my audience,
white doves singing my praise.
The gentle breeze brushing through my hair
and gliding my kite high
to create a beautiful sight.
Running with such confidence
as my smile spreads from cheek to cheek
glowing brighter than midnight stars.
Breathless yet unstoppable
for this is who I am.

I am a kite runner
free
to be myself.

I was a Kite Runner too and it is one of the best clubs here. Your poem does justice to it and at the same time it talks about freedom and the beauty of running a kite. When I was a little girl I loved flying kites.I looked up and that kite gave a sense of identity.I knew I would be free some day.Awesome piece.Great work!
