Lazy Days on the Meadow

by Angie   Nov 15, 2012

Lazy Days on the Meadow

lazying on the front porch of this rustic cabin
with a frosty glass of freshly brewed iced tea
sun rays bounce off the distant mountains
as a warm breeze rustles leaves in the old oak tree

a carpet of green littered with the colors
of daisies and bluebells cover the meadow
mallard ducks waddle toward the stream
as deer sip the cool rippling water

cowbells and neighing horses mixed with a childs laughter
can be heard from inside the weathered red barn
while the dumb ole hound dog runs in circles
barking and chasing his tail

then theres precious grandpa in his overalls
perched on a vine covered tree stump
and with his aged hands whittles
another one of his many wooden trinkets

its beautiful days like this
that makes my heart smile
and I long to stop time
so I can bask in all its magical glory

Thank you Maple Tree for the title...

Very descriptive and enjoyable! Reminds me of the days I spent with my grandfather sitting on the porch listening to his stories.

I'm a nature nut any ways; so meadows and deer and rustling leaves drew me in...

    Loved it!!

I wish I could write like this. I constantly have metaphors coming out of me, you took what you saw and penned it....which is really so vivid and the scene here is so profound.

You know I love it when you write new pieces!! It excites me!
