Glass Doll

by Cecilia   Feb 7, 2013

I am the perfect glass doll
With porcelain skin
As fine as dust.

Long lashes like
A million spider legs
Border my black,
Lifeless irises.

Yellow hair of satin
And a lengthy,worn dress.

I stand forever
Encased in a see-through box
Looking out
And nothing more

Like a cadaver preserved
In formaldehyde;

Watching life take it's course
From inside my coffin.

Dreams of warm flesh,
A long life and a real,
Easy death.

Immortal am I,
This glass doll
Encased in a box.

Damned to a life
Where living is wishful thinking,
And death, like hope,
Will never come.
