A Day In the Life

by Cecilia   Feb 22, 2013

Standing still in time,
There's only so much you can take,

Surrounded by every feeling,
From ecstasy to sorrow.

You feel like the midpoint,
Sensing every emotion
As it passes you by,
Like it is your own.

Escape to the stalls
And pop a pill.

Watch your hands begin to tremble,
And hear your heart pound in your ears,
Such sweet side effects....

Go back to class and sit in your seat,
And watch reality begin to blur...

Rub your eyes to make sure it's real.

Not a filter anymore,
These are your own.

Feel your lids become heavy,
Long blinks threaten to overcome you.

Finally, you give in,
Blackout in the middle of biology.

The bell rings,
Time for algebra....

No chance for sleep here,
She'll beat you right if you do.

Try your best to stay awake,
But now the nausea hits you,
And the mellow begins to fade.

English class:
Every word,
Every breath,
Hits you like a sudden death,
Making you feel empty and sad.

Time to head home,
And once you're there
Go to sleep again,
You're exhausted.
