Dancing with Demons

by Daylight Lucidity   May 7, 2013

The music begins to satiate the air around us
While I pick my partner for this gracious dance
Perhaps a waltz or two, or maybe a tango, the dance of more than love,
Beautiful and sexy, a lovely balance.
My heart brought me toward the beauty over yonder floor,
Her hair short though shining like the sun,
I bowed and requested a dance or two with her, or maybe one more,
She smiled slightly, I thought it cute, and was absolutely stunning.
She agreed and fled with me onto the bloody red velvet carpet
Our hands clasped together, I brought our bodies close,
Her chest against my own, tightly for she is delicate
And it was then that I saw the underlying darkness
That swam within her eyes; her touch, her whispers, however benevolent.
Foolishly, my desire overruled my rationalism and while we twirled
I bent for a kiss, her lips faintly bruised and bloody,
Curiosity peaked my interest, my love unfurled,
As her lips met my own, a demon swirling in the air, she whispered, "enjoy it, honey."
I tried to pull back, tried to run away,
But her nails dug into my neck
Holding me to her viciously alluring body
And I know that this love will soon be a wreck
For dancing with demons ends in tragedy...
She kisses me again, blackness closing in on me and my sights
"After this song, might you be merciful and kill me?"
I asked, my eyes pleading but dark as night.
"No, beautiful prey, you are my pet,
Dance the night away with me
My shackled love, don't you fret
You'll be mine forever, faithfully."
As our waltz comes to an end,
I pull her closer and kiss her against my will
But I seem to have grown accustomed to her dominating love, a feeling I didnt intend,
And am entombed in suffocating thrill.
I came to this ball in hopes of finding love,
I succumbed to my tortuous love's call and beauty,
And though she kills me, I can't get enough,
Because dancing with demons is how she entrapped me.
