Grow

by lisa marie   May 17, 2014

I wait.
Patiently,
Because I cannot grasp
your soul adrift.

and all of my mind,
is locked inside of
unspoken knowledge
that can no longer exist.

as they eat away at the
eyes I use to feel,
the inspiration of
your past life,
continues to flourish
within my own consciousness.

We'll never rest.
I'll always question.
and this lattice of
euphoria and despair
is only a reminder that,
you were meant to gradually
dissolve inside of all of us.

The smell of melancholy
when you speak will forever rest
within my words.
I'll remember you.
and I'll always listen
to your unsteady thoughts.

But I'll never be you.
Instead,
I'll walk away from
everything your waking life
taught me to avoid.
