Blaze.

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 17, 2016

What is waiting in the
stars? What is written
when your heart combusts
and I must put out the
flame even though I
have no training.

You're the one who
keeps ashes by the
bedside.

I draw the shades; I
can't escape the whispers
of the night. Nor can I
pretend you didn't light
me up when my soul
withered with darkness.

What will I do to get
over you? Sign my
name among the
constellations? Exhale
the memories until
they settle into the
dying air?

Where do I go - for
I am given no direction
when it becomes this late...
when the only thing
separating me from dreams
and reality is a pane of
glass that I

am trying to see through.
