Faith in Falsetto

by Vicente   Jun 23, 2016

I consider my self a Christian,
You know?
The Book speaks of love.
Its followers? No.

A bathroom quote I once read,
"The Bible taught me to love,
It's followers taught me to hate."
Such truth in what was said.

Wars are waged,
Blood is spilled.
Following ideals that aged,
Millions yet killed.

So many Faiths and thoughts,
Yes they ALL have radicals.
Many died by swords or shots,
All in belief of THEIR "magicals".

The Inquisition,
The Crusades.
Death for lack of YOUR tradition,
They're all violent masquerades.

Why can't we agree?
We don't have to be friends,
Just live and let be.

In the end we are all alone,
Souls gone to sea.
Dirt replaces bone.
Is this all we will be?

Words like daggers,
Thrown in every which way.
Some say the sweetest things,
But end actions are what matter.

No one is innocent.
We all fall asleep to songs,
Songs of malcontent.
Everyone writes the wrongs.

In the melody poured out for slaves,
We are all blind.
Our tomes say our God saves,
But only our own kind?

I refuse to believe,
In a God of hate.
You say I'M damned?
Don't you dare!

Hypocrisy hemorrhaging forth,
Degrading others.
Saying they've no worth.
You cannot see we're brothers.

Muslim, Christian,
"Godless heathen", Jew.
We're still all human,
All of us, all of you.

Nice sentiments in this poem which I like, but the reality is that our freedoms have to be defended as there is always some dictator, fanatic or religion that seeks to take away our freedoms and democracies.
One doesn't have to look far to see this happening in the world every day, as it's done for centuries.
The problem is that we are human.. Great poem though.

I understand the feel here, gem. There's only one right thing to do. Who shows mercy, has done justice.

Such a true powerful write-it is so unfortunate that we can't let people just be who they are, without the backlash. Religion is a funny thing, they say love one another but yet say certain people are sinners-why are some people deserving and others are not? I really like this a lot-well done.

All I can say is wow.
The only belief I have is that we should all live in harmony but we'll all die before that day.

    Great write, Em
