Helping

by deeplydesturbed   Jul 11, 2016

How do I help someone else
When I can barely help myself?
How do I encourage and listen
When I sit like a doll on a lonely shelf?

I hate seeing friends in pain..
I hate not knowing the right words..
I wish I could do more..
But I'm off flying with the birds..

How can i give advice,
Knowing I dont take it when it's given.
Is this any real way
To be living?

Im sorry I am a useless friend.
I am sorry Im not always here..
I do wish I could help you more,
Lend a better ear..

I think you are beating yourself up overly much. Just being there and listening to another person is more than you know. This was a lovely write, never think of yourself as useless, you are a unique individual with gifts that you share with all of us. Take care-Brenda

N, a very personal and emotional piece that many of us can relate to. Sometimes it's easier said than done taking our own advice isn't it? As S said though your ears are perfect just the way they are though sometimes it'd be nice for someone to listen to us too, right?

    A great piece. Em

Of course we all would love someone to listen more :)
As much as we all wish somewhere deep down we could be better listeners.

Your ear is just fine as is, and I appreciate it and you. Don't strive to change yourself, strive to keep being you. That's why we like you! Always willing to bandage someone else up though you might be bleeding yourself. Giving someone the shirt off your back I believe is the phrase.

    Much love,
