if all I had was a raindrop

by pmmurphy   Oct 13, 2017

It would fall from clouded skies
It would leave it's trace in my arms
And never beckon a watery demise
I would trap it like the leaf I became
Let it roll but not before a secret roam
Let loose on puddles galore
For this is the hour I would adore

If a puddle was in my grasp
Held onto by each drop
It would soak but never fast
Because it's the takes we take in last
Forever a viscous glow
The puddles we seek
Keep us in each undertow
But never soaked to our knees

It's the puddles we all endure
Like the life we often forlorn
We hope one day it will dry
But for now we just sit back and pry
