One Of A Kind:

by Scott Cole   Oct 26, 2017

The first time I saw her
I was just a kid,
Didn't know much about her
Or nothing she did.

My first day at school
I saw her again,
There in my classroom
And I started to grin.

For that made my day
My heart skipped a beat,
So I sat there and starred
On the edge of my seat.

Over the next few classes
I got to know her,
And what I found out
Made my emotions stir.

Her family is famous
A true icon,
And their notoriety
Still carries on.

Her dad was a soldier
A decorated vet,
Who's valour was established
Through blood and sweat.

Her mom was a seamstress
With privileged hands,
Who knitted the fabric
That blankets this land.

As I starred at her
From across the floor,
All of her beauty
Her wonderful decor.

My eyes were driven
My heart was inspired,
And that only fueled
My curious desire.

Then at that very second
She stood before me,
I was so overwhelmed
I barely could breathe.

It wasn't long after that
Something amazing occurred,
During the Pledge Of Allegiance
I finally spoke to her.
