I thank the first fish
Who was brave enough
To step onto land.

I thank the first mammal
Who was that it was safe
To leave its little burrow
To a new world ready to be claimed.

I thank the first monkeys
Who decided to traverse
The African savannah,
Walking on their own two feet.

I thank the first homo sapiens
Who discovered how to
Manipulate fire to keep themselves warm.

And i thank your parents
For meeting one another.

And I thank my parents as well.

If it wasn't for all of them,
I would have never
Met you.
