You Took My Life

by Bleu   Sep 1, 2018

Just a normal morning, nothing to fear.
Just a school day, a Friday.
My son began to cheer.

The day started like any other, breakfast.
A little boy buckled in the back.
But, the moments that followed,
You never could have told me about that..

It happened so suddenly, life flashing before my eyes.
But the life I was watching fade was not mine.
My little boy was struggling to take his final breaths.
A life cut short because of a car wreck.

A careless driver did not see the light turn red.
Sped through, on the window I hit my head.
There is only one thing I wish to say.
You took my life, on an ordinary
Friday.

Hey Everyone!! I wanted to explain a little better!

This poem is not about me or anything that happened to me. Last Friday, a drunk driver, in her 20's ran through a ran light and T-boned a car on the passenger side going about 50-60. There was a father and his son in the car, and the impact took his sons life. I had the accident on my mind the entire day and I needed to write. I just wanted to clarify!

I am so desperately sorry for your loss. There is little else to say about this piece.

Take care and all the very best,
    Ben
