Tunes of My Heart

by Hannah Lizette   Sep 29, 2018

And in this moment -
as you hum along to a familiar tune,
unaware of silent admiration
love casts upon these lips.

Over the years,
I've been guilty of
loving too loudly;
listening to lyrics but
ignoring the song,
hungry for a muse.

I slip away
as softly as I came,
you've tuned my heart
and I must sing.

Dear Hannah this goes deep at least for me and you have a way of expressing yourself that will have our attention. Beautiful and add to my favorite. All the very best to you

This is such a beautiful poem and I can see sadness within as well.

I love when people start their poems with "a middle of the sentence type of feel" you brought the reader to what you were doing/thinking about at the time you were writing this. I do find it brings more pull to the reader that way.

You could say that perhaps this person has been in love secretly for a long time and the person they are in love with, is unaware and they keep singing their tune no matter what.

You have always sung the song of love and it seems like no one has responded or has listened to love like you have. You have loved so much and it feels like you have been underappreciated. You love people no matter how much you have been hurt or get hurt by others, you are hungry to have someone love you as much as you love them.

    But-

Over the years you have been falling away from love and now it seems like you have met someone who has tuned your love and has responded kindly. And now after years of not singing you are willing to try again.

I absolutely loved this poem because of the story told in metaphors, like all of your poems you never stray and always stick to one topic beautifully.
