Eclogue 001

by erotema   Apr 20, 2005

a theological eclogue on the subject of *nihilism

Marque:
what thinks you of our quiet hills, and post among our flock?
what thinks you of our summertime, and place upon this rock?
must you contend that all we know is fallacy most grand?
or do you now surrender how the universe was planned?

Rien:
so you contend that all this work is of some great design?
I still believe that my belief in nothing is benign.
ive seen no reason to believe in some Paternal force
no cause for me to change my mind or realign my course.

the heavens in their majesty might be some work of art,
but man has not preserved this land, so Time has cleft apart
the love between all men and God, and man has fallen nigh
the distance that man fell before: from pinnacle so high.

Marque:
the fall from grace might be the place that proves that God is dead,
but even if His death is true, at least mine lived instead.
you have no faith, you have no proof in what you hold to be,
so why should any man (or god) find truth in what you see?

Rien:
my faith in nothing holds a light to your judgmental tone,
and proves that those who follow Him are nothing but alone.
though some may claim to hear His word, and some may claim to see,
its those who claim to follow Him who never will be free.

there may be madness in my words, but still I wont give in;
to think that someone in the clouds is counting out my sin
and doting those in grace for some unknown eternity?
ill have no faith in anything and we shall disagree.

*nihilism = belief in nothing

Your message is what I need. I have yet to find the words that acurately describe my views of religion. Marque is my thoughts on paper. Thank you and keep it up. It is a huge accomplishment in my eyes. =)
