The Story Of You and I

by BrokenMemoriex   Nov 30, 2005

We first met when I was new
You were a senior in the school
When we started conversation
It was always full of animation

"Hi girl", you would say
Whenever we met each day
I used to be so quiet
And now I just feel tired

You said you thought I was cute
Pretending to be mute
You used to be so nice
Now you are full of prejudice

I thought you were a big brother
As I had no other
But gradually it went out of hand
In the realm of love I had to land

On my birthday you played me the song
In case you don't know, I was touched all along
Not a present or cake you gave
But it doesn't matter, you were my fave

We grew close
Love, guess I had an overdose
For fun, you would call me your honey
I thought you were really funny

You told me you couldn't live without me
We even planned to enter the same university
Now I wonder if you were serious
Or did you think it was hilarious?

You used to like to pat my head
My ponytail you would take
I was your little girl
Did you treat me as your child or a lover?

Whenever we went out for dinner
You would try to lean nearer
You used to stop and look me in the eye
I'd look back, won't I?

We used to send text messages
It went on for ages
Until one day
It just started to decay

Maybe you grew tired of me
I didn't know, I couldn't see
You started eyeing my best friend
Our friendship broke in the end

We used to talk on the phone late at night
Now you do that with her, right?
Soon after, another girl came into your life
I knew the old days could never be revived

You could see more than one girl at a time
To me, it tasted like lime
You had them all under your finger
Around you they would linger

You know I get jealous
But you were just so careless
Now I have a clue
That I meant nothing to you

In you I don't know what I find
The other girls don't seem to mind
You and your flirting ways
Heartbroken I spent my days

You had me on
It was all wrong
It wasn't supposed to be
Now I pass my days in misery

Until now you do
Give me a few winks or two
I don't dare hope for the best
But I can't say about the rest

I really hope one day I'll have the courage
Your attention I'd engage
Maybe then I'll confess
And perhaps wait for you to say, "Yes".
