Euphemistic mirror

by Shædow Poet   Jul 20, 2006

I am a euphemism of obesity
Coated with anorexia’s myrrh,
And while the mirror used to taunt me
It will now let me be.
My insolence is my scales
Who weep with weightless worry
Climbing an aphotic ladder
Breathing without a stir.

Today I made a new friend,
His name was Sweet Serenity
And as I pondered what it meant
He explained it linked to the gift he sent:
Blood of the magazines will not stain
On a mirror not big, nor very plain
Its surface is dull without a reflection
Unlike that of a human’s perfection.

His kind words were not customary
However, they did make me see
That the aroma of a flower,
Cannot exist without its stem.
Once my friend said he had to leave
I had to test what I had believed
And as I stared into the eyes of a mirror
I laughed, and it laughed back at me.
