I'll stick with with "we were"

by Chelsey   Sep 21, 2006

I haven’t went one day yet, without people asking of you
I can’t help but be sarcastic and answer them with “who?”
I’ve moved on with my pride and threw away those tissues
I like the status quo; you’ll just have to make do

Sometimes I look at that scrapbook I made and wish I had it burned
Because I know you’re not thinking of me, you’re the least bit concerned
I let you curse me out and finally I had my turn
Now you know that I’m for real, my lessons already been learned

Just know that if you ever see me in town, I won’t glance your way
I’ll see the rest of the world in color, and you’ll be pale and gray
You won’t be the same in my eyes; I left that back in the day
You wanted to do this game, so finally I decided to play

When people ask what happened, I give them no reply
You walked away without warning, without even saying goodbye
I regret all those gifts I bought, and helping you when you cried
You did not a damn thing for me, I’m still left asking why?

I’m happier without you; I can act more like me
No more of you staring me down when I want to be goofy
Just stay where you are girl, that’s my one and only plea
Life at home is better, and school is a breeze

People ask all the time “why aren’t you friends with her”
We just disagreed a lot and there was so much crap you tried to stir
I always questioned our friendship, I was always unsure
So we are NO longer best friends, I’ll stick with we were

This is really good. I like the feeling of anger and pain you wrote about. It makes the poem seem more realistic. Keep it up.
